February 14: ‘A Life Worth Remembering’

Carol Thomas Cissel, Interim Minister at The Unitarian Society in East Brunswick, leads our worship service next Sunday morning, February 14, at 10:30. Rev. Cissel’s sermon topic is “A Life Worth Remembering.” From the moment we enter the world, our brains and bodies begin preparing us to leave it. Part of that preparation includes gathering and storing memories—but why do we remember? What we remember? What drives the decisions and choices we make? Principles? Morals? Values? How can we create a life worth remembering?

Rev. Cissel holds a Master of Divinity degree from Pacific School of Religion and a Masters of Science in Nonprofit and Association Management from the University of Maryland. Her pathway to ordained Unitarian Universalist ministry has been a coast-to-coast journey in which she has served or preached at congregations in Maryland, California, Washington State, Oklahoma, Virginia, and New Jersey.

John Freund is the Worship Associate. Matt Anderson, Director of Music, and the House Band debut Matt’s new song “Desire.” The entire community gathers for the beginning of the service then children in pre-K through grade 5 and parents depart for Family Worship and grades 6/7 and 8/9 attend their regularly scheduled classes.

David Horst, Minister, and Cathy George, Membership Committee, lead The New UU (Unitarian Universalist) program beginning at noon in the Minister’s Office. The Deep Dive conversation is cancelled.
