January 31: ‘Nonviolence and Power’

‘Nonviolence and Power’
Sunday, January 31, 10:30 a.m., Sanctuary
In 2003 Jonathan Schell published a ground-breaking book The Unconquerable World. Schell recounts the history of nonviolent action at every level of political life, a history that is often overlooked in the despairing accounts of confrontations and war between nations and their people. Schell’s historical and political analysis gives us insight into more recent international efforts to resist conflict, aggression, and war by the promoting, instead, nonviolent action, negotiation, and peace by peaceful means.

David Horst, Minister; Robin Slaw, Director of Lifespan Faith Development; Matt Anderson, Director of Music; and Rab Bell, Worship Associate, lead the service. We welcome Guest Artist, Aditya Datey, Tabla. David’s sermon topic is “Nonviolence and Power.” Robin’s story is Enemy Pie by Derek Munson.

Following the story Robin and the pre-K to grade 5 children depart for the Assembly Room to make some Enemy Pies! Coffee and conversation follow the service. Childcare is provided until 1:30.
