September 27: Service

Assemblyman Tim Eustace of the 38th District of the New Jersey Legislature joins us for worship and a special day of community service and advocacy this Sunday morning, September 27, beginning at 10:30. His presentation is entitled “Service.” Robin Slaw, Director of Lifespan Faith Development; Matt Anderson, Director of Music; and I lead the service with John Freund, Worship Associate. The story is “The Invitation Parable.” Church friend Michelle Cardona sings “Reach Out” by Mr. Anderson with the House Band. Youth Group member Caelan Cardello performs a piano work by Moritz Moszkowski. Children and youth join us for the beginning of the service then depart for their classes and meetings. Lisa Pitz, Program Director of Advocacy, Outreach, and Education at the N.J. Anti-Hunger Coalition, speaks on the campaign to reauthorize the Child Nutrition bill in Congress.

Sharing food with the needy - kids hands with a slice of bread

You’re invited to participate in Snack Pack packing for the Center for Food Action immediately following the service. Money raised at last year’s soup-and-sandwich lunches, organized by the Children and Youth Faith Development Committee, funded this community service initiative, which will provide weekend Snack Packs to 1,000 low-income children facing food scarcity.
