October’s Worship Theme: “Awe”
This congregational year we will explore a different theme each month through our worship services. Our monthly themes each represent an aspect of our theme for the entire congregational year: “Regeneration.” October’s worship theme is “Awe.”

Days of Awe We gather this Sunday during the Jewish Days of Awe which last from Rosh Hashanah to Yom Kipper. Traditionally, this is a time of self reflection to recommit to your relationship with the divine. This Sunday we’ll explore the role of “awe” in such reflection and commitment. How have you experienced “awe” and how does it inform your experience of the divine?

Indigenous-Led Earth Justice Indigenous communities are often at the front lines experiencing the traumatic effects of climate change. As such, many indigenous leaders are also at the forefront of the movement for earth justice. This Sunday, we turn to the voices of those leaders calling on us to heal our relationship with our planet. This service includes a performance by our CUC Choir.

All-Ages Blessing of the Animals Join us for our all ages Blessing of the Animals service where we recognize and celebrate our connection with our animal companions. All pets and their human companions are welcome! Dogs must be leashed and, if required, muzzled. Smaller animals should be carried in kennels or cages or held securely. You may also bring a photograph of your pet to be added to our altar for the service. If you are attending online, and would like to include your pet in our service, please send a photograph to Rev. Andrée (revandree@cucparamus.org) by noon on Friday, October 14. You may bring or submit photographs of beloved deceased pets to be remembered, too. For in person participation, the service will take place in the CUC Courtyard, weather permitting.
